Our family has had a small home in Kachina Village just south of Flagstaff, Az. for years. The recent "Slide Fire", a huge Forrest Fire between Sedona, Az and Flagstaff came too close for comfort. This monster Fire has burned for almost 2 weeks and has burned over 21,000 acres and is only 53% contained.
Many people were forced to evacuate their homes, 1000's of others were on stand-by evacuation (be packed and ready to leave in 15 minutes). Our neighbor behind us, his family and 5 little dogs evacuated. The Forrest Firefighters did and amazing job! Not one house was lost and no loss of life.
While we were safe back in Peoria, Az., we certainly had concern about losing this special place. Long week ends, holidays, pancake breakfasts, hikes, grilling, somemores over the fire pit in the back yard. Great times, many memories for us and our children and grandchildren. Luckily the Firefighters saved the day. Thank You Brave Firefighters.
